Toilet Supply Line Leak — Silent Water Damage Cause

Toilet supply lines connect the wall shutoff to the tank. Plastic and vinyl lines fail from age, chlorine, and pressure spikes. Braided stainless steel lines last longer but still need replacement every 5–7 years.

Slow supply line leaks are often denied by insurance as gradual damage. Document the failure point if the line bursts suddenly. Check for corrosion, bulging, or mineral deposits at connections.

A leaking supply line can saturate subfloor and adjacent rooms invisibly. If you see staining around the toilet base, call for moisture inspection immediately.
